SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN GOALS FOR 2004-2005

MATH

  • All Math scores on the Criterion Reference Test (CRT) will be at or above the district average.
  • Identify students who need extra help.
  • Starting in October, provide remediation programs before/after school and through the use of aides during the school day.
  • Work towards a balanced Math approach.
  • Explore possibilities for adjusting the schedule to increase the amount of time students spend doing Math.
  • Improve communication between parents and teachers regarding each students' Math progress.

LITERACY

  • All Language scores on the CRT will be at or above the district average.
  • Continue to build on last year's focus on writing, teaching the Six Traits.
  • Train students in self-assessment and peer-assessment.
  • Use Trust Land monies for professional development, collaboration, and materials for writing and publishing projects.
  • Update and maintain our libraries for Reading programs (Home Reading, Guided Reading, and Accelerated Reader).
  • Improve communication between parents and teachers regarding each students' Math progress.

TECHNOLOGY

  • More thoroughly teach students technology use and application.
  • Integrate curriculum through technology by:
    - educating teachers on possibilities for enhancing core instruction;
    - purchasing programs that supplement instruction through computer application;
    - use computers to train students in critical thinking and synthesizing information and skills.
